This story could be fantastic if it were fleshed out a lot more. The characters have a good deal of promise, the author's style is smooth and the premise of the world is verging on exceptional but it needs more. The big problem is that it is too large of a concept to cram into a short story. There are some places where the transitions are confusing and it takes a minute to catch up. The story leaps around and one particular character appears to have no purpose (though I could see how he could play a part if the story were lengthened considerably). The Curse of Alkanoth has so much promise and I truly hope the author will revisit it to transform it into a full length novel (or more).
